Back 2 School

Austin & FriendsAustin 10th grade
Autumn 5th grade
Asher 3rd grade
Aidan 1st grade
Ready for the 1st day.

A Day of Firsts

On Saturday Aidan had his 1st soccer game.
I signed him up to play 2 years ago and after he got his jersey he decided he didn't want to play anymore. Since we already had 3 other teams and 6 other practices a week, I didn't argue.
This year he has some friends from school and his cousin, Elijah, on his team and he loves it!
Cooling off with an orange.
It was over 100 degrees! While Aidan was eating his snack after the game his auntie commented how cute he was with a missing tooth. I said its still there, its just hanging by a thread. Aidan smiled and sure enough, his tooth was gone.
He ate his 1st tooth with his Sun Chips.
We already knew the Tooth Fairy accepts notes because Autumn ate her 1st tooth too!
What a good day.

Well, there is so much to say about our trip to India. It was incredible! I would love to share just a few highlights, and if you want to hear more, PLEASE call me I'd love to tell you all about it!
It was awesome to spend 2 weeks doing ministry with my husband. Bart was on the speaking team and was able to give the message at an outreach, he shared his testimony a few times, and I think he was beating someone up in just about every drama. He just shined on this trip and I've never been more proud of him, or more in love with him.
I co-lead the 3 day VBS with Bridget and it was pretty awesome. Everyone on our team participated 110%. They did such a great job. The VBS was held at a Harvest India orphanage and there were about 800 kids. I did worship songs under a big tent outside with Jen and Alyssa and we had the time of our lives. It was 90+ degrees with about 80% humidity and we were jumping around for hours. It was a sweaty good time. At the end of the 3 days it was really hard to say goodbye to the kids. Some of them were calling us mommy and daddy-heart breaking!
We dedicated 3 water wells, held 3 medical and mercy camps. We did an AIDS camp and gave families food for a month. We participated in a ceremony releasing 2 young women from prostitution thanks to $2000 donated by 2 Revolution Church life groups. We had 3 outreaches, held 4 different Sunday services, one of which I had the privilege of giving the message.
I know I'm forgetting a lot of other things.
What I learned from this trip is that it is possible for us to be like Jesus. I don't mean perfect. But I think we let ourselves off the hook, and we allow ourselves to be distracted by things that really shouldn't matter in life. Spending 2 weeks with the Harvest India staff I was blown away by the fact that this is their life's work. We blow into town and the people come to see the Americans, but when we go home they continue the work. They are they are loving their neighbors, they are caring for the orphans and the widows. The kids in Harvest India orphanages know the Bible better than my children, and sadly probably better than me. I want to be better, and I don't have to move to India to do that. I can do it here.
This trip was a confirmation to Bart and I that we want to continue to return to India, to work alongside Harvest India, to invest our financial resources to them because it truly goes to the people who need it, in the name of Jesus.
Please join us on Sunday September 13th for our India Sunday at Revolution Church, with special guest Suresh Kumar, President of Harvest India.
